Life moves quickly, and the choices you make can propel you into a great life – or one that leaves you cold. In Step Up Your Game, Sharm Scheuerman shares his experiences as a star player, young coach, son to a widowed mother, friend, professional, bachelor, husband, and seeker of Truth. He asks you to consider tough questions while you still have time to decide who you are and what your legacy will be. Coach Sharm believed that every day is a new chance to be a hero. Your integrity, your character, and your faith can shape the world you experience. It doesn't matter where you've been – as long as you know where you're going. Coach Sharm says it's time to play. Are you game?

I grew up in a small town in Brookhaven, Mississippi, but found opportunities to do some great things. I was selected to be the Gatorade Player of the Year in my home state, I played with Chris Webber and Jason Kidd in the Nike ABCD Camp, and I was MVP in the McDonald's All-American game. The biggest moment in my young life, or so I thought, happened when I went to the Portsmouth Invitational. It was a step just before the NBA. I thought I was ready to go to the next level, but then I had the worst game of my life.
I looked around the stands. I'd just stunk up the place, but now there was a guy who wanted to talk to me. Why would anyone want to talk to me after that game? It was Coach Sharm Scheuerman.
We sat down in the lobby and talked. He opened up a Bible and we looked at it together. I realize now that I'd have given up every other opportunity for that day – the day I connected with Coach Sharm for the first time. It was the beginning of something important, above and beyond the success I'd always pictured for myself.
